“Little Vikes” Program

Update – June 2020

The Little Vikes preschool program at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield was thrust in the national spotlight after its teacher, Tabatha Rosproy, was named National Teacher of the Year. A wonderful accomplishment and recognition for the value of this program. But for safety reasons, the heralded program is moving back to the Winfield Early Learning Center after Cumbernauld leadership and USD 465 have decided that was the safer decision due to the coronavirus threat.

Cumbernauld is continuing to limit visitors to keep their residents safe, with 16 4-year-olds and their families going in and out all day, that becomes a lot more difficult.”

Superintendent Nathan Reed, Rosproy, WELC principal Desaree Groene and he are working out ways for the residents and kids to stay in contact. They’ll be using Zoom and Google, video chats and other technology to keep the resident volunteers and kids in contact with one another.

Cumbernauld will work with USD 470 to help keep the Little Vikes in Touch with the residents this year, and look forward to the 2021 Fall class to return.
